Several graphical attributes can be animated. Here is a list of the most
important ones:
Colour The colour of an element can be changed either
linear (calcualtes the inbetween colours) or discrete (jumps from
one colour to another).
Opacity / Transparency The opacity value (between 0 and
1) of an element can be animated either linear (as it is in the
example to the right) or discrete (blinking objects).
Stroke-Width The stroke-width of an element that
possesses a stroke can be animated. The stroke-width can have an
arbitrary but reasonable value.
Fill Pattern A shape can be filled with a pattern. This
pattern can be animated as well.
Stroke Pattern The stroke of an element can for instance
be dashed or have a pattern like cartographic objects
(e.g. railwayroads). These stroke patterns can be animated.
Filter Parameter Filters are used to add special effects
to shapes and text (e.g. object with a blurred shadow offset
slightly to the side). These filter effects can be animated.
Not only graphical attributes but also geometric
attributes can be animated as the following examples demonstrate:
