In the concept phase content, layout and techniques that will be used to realise the application have to be defined. A time schedule that leads the developer through the realisation phase has to be generated as well.

Only after having defined the content of the application, its layout and the time schedule can be created. Estimating the time of the various steps is an important part of the concept phase. Especially when developing a complex application it is important to know how much time can be spent on the different subjects.

When making a decision about the technique that will be used to realise the application, some aspects have to be considered.

- Rate of Transmission (for Internet applications)

- Browser Compatibility
- Needed Plugins for some formats
