1.5. Self Assessment

Choose an arbitrary application on the web which can be either a homepage, a web application or an application that has to be downloaded and installed on the computer.

Do the usability test and the evaluation for the chosen example. Check the application in different browser softwares for the aspects you learnt in this lesson. The following list proposes some exemplary questions that have to be posed during the evaluation:

• Layout: Do you like the layout of the application? Do you propose some changings?
• Content: Does the content correspond to the possible target audience? Are you missing some functions? Are there sufficient or insufficient tools or functions? Did the authors choose an appropriate visualisation of the topic that is visualised?
• Technique: Did the author consider the possible hardware and software problems?
• Usability: Are the handling and the results of the functions and tools clear? Is the handling of the whole project obvious?
• Etc.

Write a short essay (approx. 1 A4 page) with the results of your evaluation and hand it in to your tutor.

Needless to say that in your essay you have to indicate the URL where to find the application.
