1.1.2. Aim of the Project

Parallel to the definition of the target audience, the aim of the project has to be defined. The question "Where is the project leading the users?" has to be clarified.
There are generally four different types:

  • Education
  • Information
  • Entertainment
  • Selling Products

Therefore the answers for the following questions have to be found first.

  • Do I want to provide information? What do the users have to know after having visited the application?
  • Does my application want to transfer some information?
  • Is my multimedia application just developed to entertain the users?
  • Or do I want to sell products with my application?

Only after having found the main aim of the application, some more questions have to be posed:

  • Teach Knowledge: If knowledge ought to be imparted, what level does this knowledge possess? Do the users have to feature some previous knowledge? How complex is the knowledge that have to be imparted?
  • Impart Information: If information has to be imparted, what kind of information do I want to impart?
  • Entertainment: If my multimedia application is just for entertainment, what type of entertainment is it of (games, funny videos, etc.)? How is entertainment defined?
  • Selling Products: Do I want to force the customer to buy the product? Do I only want to introduce my product?
